Preserving Memories

At the beginning of this year, I was excited to be approached by Brooklyn Roasting Company for collaboration at their shop in Japan. While there were a lot of twists and turns throughout the whole process of creation, everything fell into place beautifully.
It always amazes me that if I allow a project to create its own life and form by itself, it works out even better than I could have imagined.
While the physical event was postponed, I am still filled to the brim with giddiness to share the stories of this collaboration and the finished paintings.
At the start of this project, I decided that I wanted to use their new colors for the brand as the base for the paintings and pair that with the stories that came my way while traveling in New York.
I got it into my head that I wanted to blend the memories I had created while I was in the city. If you can have coffee blends, why not the same with my experiences and stories?
While walking the streets and taking the subway, I was the weirdo from out of town that carried a sheet of canvas everywhere and jotted down overheard conversations, colors, and textures that spoke to me.
These pieces became blends of memories, ironic serendipities, and realized correlations; events that I wanted to frame and preserve. You will be able to find the full series here. I hope you enjoy.
